GARUDA Acceptable user Policy


  1. GARUDA Grid should not be used for any illegal or commercial activities. Use for Scientific Research and educational purposes are allowed.
  2. User shall not use the GRID for any unlawful purpose and not (attempt to) breach or circumvent any GRID administrative or security controls. User shall respect copyright and confidentiality agreements and protect their GRID credentials (e.g. private keys, passwords), sensitive data and files.
  3. Do not circumvent accounting and auditing mechanisms.

                This means user must associate their identity with the GARUDA grid account in which their service runs, and they must not do anything to obfuscate the audit trail.

  1. User shall immediately report any known or suspected security breach or misuse of the GRID or GRID credentials to the relevant credential issuing authorities.
  2. Passwords and certificates are the keys to account access. Users are responsible for protecting their passwords and certificates. Protection includes not sharing passwords, not writing passwords down where they can be easily found, and not using tools which expose passwords on the network.
  3. Use of the GRID is at users own risk. There is no guarantee that the GRID will be available at all the time or that it will suit all purpose.
  4. Logged information, including information provided by user for registration purposes, shall be used for administrative, operational, accounting, monitoring and security purposes only. This information may be disclosed to other participating organizations for these purposes. Although efforts are made to maintain confidentiality, no guarantees are given.
  5. It is user’s responsibility to ensure the confidentiality of any intellectual property or other confidential data used on GARUDA Grid resources.
  6. All software used on GARUDA Grid must be appropriately acquired and used according to the specified licensing. Possession or use of illegally copied software is prohibited. Likewise users shall not copy copyrighted software or materials, except as permitted by the owner or the copyright. Some software installed on GARUDA resources may require special authorization in order to be used. Users must abide by the requirements for protecting it from misuse.
  7. There should not be any hacking attempts of the GARUDA grid nodes.
  8. User should not do systematic or random port or address block scans. Do not spoof or sniff traffic.
  9. Authorized GARUDA administrator may review files for the purposes of aiding an individual or providing diagnostic investigation for GARUDA systems.

No user shall use/operate,  computer/network/computer site or allow use/operate    any body to                                 View/store/upload/download/transmit/send/receive   any  text /data /image /sound /audio /video /signal /pictures   in any other mode /form in violation of or inconsistent with any laws of India including but not limited to Information Technology Act, 2000, Copyright Act, 1957 and all other laws/rules/regulations/notifications/orders in force from time to time. Any such violation/breach or attempt of violation/breach/inconsistency shall lead to automatic and immediate surrender /closure /forfeiture of account and fees paid besides making such user liable for criminal actions without prejudice to right of C-DAC to cease/freeze/stop account/access/use of the site/facility for actual or attempted or suspected breach/violation of any of the provisions of this “policy/MOU/laws of India.”

  2. Independent Investigation.

        This means, you acknowledge that you have read this agreement and agree to all its terms and conditions. You, understand that we may at any time (directly or indirectly) solicit member referrals on terms that may differ from those contained in this user agreement. You have independently evaluated the desirability of participating in GARUDA grid or its programs and are not relying on any representation, guarantee or statements other than as set forth in this agreement.
